や is another “and” particle similar in use to と. The difference is it’s less specific and leaves open other unsaid items when making a like.
みせでパンやコーラをかいました。 Mise de pan ya kōra o kaimashita. I bought bread, Coke, etc. in the store.

How to write Hiragana ya や
Start with the horizontal hook shaped stroke.
Add the small vertical dash through where the stroke began to hook around. Finish with the slanted vertical line.
